Center Administrator

ResponsibilitiesThe UCLA Center for Prehospital Care is the leading emergency and prehospital academic center on the West Coast. One of only three centers of its kind in the nation, the Center is dedicated to advancing the systems and methods of EMS. We educate, test, and certify the people who provide care to the ill or injured prior to hospital admission. Our educators, researchers, providers and administrative team are proud of the contributions our Center makes to the world of emergency medicine. Over our 25-year history, our work has grown to encompass education, research, and institutional quality improvement. We serve aspiring and experienced EMS providers, agencies, and healthcare professionals in a variety of allied fields.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Administrator for the Center for Prehospital Care provides oversight and directs the administrative and business functions including financial management, human resources, student registration/services, contract and grant administration, student registration and records, human resources and facilities. The Administrator supervises five direct reports, providing direction and guidance to ensure that deadlines and obligations are met to support the mission of the organization.

Demonstrated skill in managing a complex organization with multiple objectives and goals, with limited resources.
Demonstrated advanced computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint to develop financial and administrative reports and systems for cost control, performance management and financial planning and analysis.
Demonstrated skill in managing a multi-function staff covered by diverse personnel policies and contract, including assessing and developing staffing needs and plans; demonstrated skill in recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, evaluating, and disciplining all levels of staff employees.
Excellent writing, editing, and visual skills to shape stories and messages in innovating and engaging ways that will motivate donors and potential donors.
Demonstrated skill in management of space, equipment and material resources including developing utilization plans and justifying acquisitions.
Possess strong customer service skills to promote pleasant and effective interactions with students, guests, affiliates, staff and program faculty.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and the public in a variety of complex, sometimes sensitive issues.
Ability to set priorities and complete assignments in a timely manner under minimal supervision.
Demonstrated and detailed understanding of workflow and process development and optimization.
Working knowledge of policies and procedures related to departmental administration in a large, urban university setting.
Demonstrated skill in organizing material, information, and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication effort.
Demonstrated skill in modifying and/or adapting designs, procedures or methods to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Skill in negotiating, exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions.
Demonstrated ability to write analytical and administrative reports and correspondence, which are clear, concise, logical and appropriate for a variety of audiences.
Skill in developing short-term and long-term goals in all areas of management.
Ability to train and assist other staff in a busy organization with constant interruptions.
Valid unrestricted California drivers' license to commute between sites.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
